JEE Main 2016 Application Form is available from December 1, 2015 onwards. The guidelines for filling JEE Main 2016 Application Form are given on this page. Candidates can register and apply below after December 1, 2015 onwards. Last date to apply for JEE Main 2016 is December 31, 2015. Students will be given one month time to fill and submit the online form by registering, uploading scanned images (of photograph, signature and left thumb impression in JPEG formats) and fee payment. Application fee payment can be done through debit/credit cards as well as through E-Challan.

JEE Main 2016 or the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is being conducted by CBSE. The largest engineering entrance exam JEE Main 2016 will be held in the month of April in online and offline modes. Candidates who wish to get admission in engineering (BE / B.Tech) courses will have to appear in the Paper 1 and those who want to go for architecture (B.Arch / B.Planning) must appear in the Paper 2.

JEE Main 2016 Exam Dates – Offline examination (pen and paper based) will be held on April 3, 2016. Online examination (computer based) will be held on April 9, 2016, and April 10, 2016, in two shifts.

Age limit – General candidate should be born on or after October 1, 1991. SC / ST / PwD candidate should be born on or after October 1, 1986.

JEE Main 2016 application form has been released on December 1, 2015. Read the information brochure (also available now) and understand the eligibility conditions before proceeding to fill the form. To apply for JEE Main 2016, facility to fill online form can be accessed at jeemain.nic.in. Requisite application fee can be paid online by credit / debit card.

Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12 and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main. JEE Main 2016 Application Form

Online submission of application form of Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2016 will be looked after by CBSE. Before applying one must read the eligibility criteria pertaining to age, educational qualification, exam attempts limit and so on. JEE Main 2016 Admit Card

Availability of admit card of JEE Main 2016 shall be online, as expected from last year’s events. To be able to download JEE Main Admit Card, candidate must have submitted the application form and fee before the last date. Also, as CBSE / board marks obtained in class 12th exam are key for calculation of JEE Main Result, the candidate is also asked to enter board exam roll number, and other details, before downloading the JEE Main Admit Card.

Make sure that you are carrying the admit card / hall ticket for the exam to the examination center along with other relevant documents.

Download admit card – Admit card of JEE Main 2016 is expected to be available in March 2016. Applicants can download the JEE (Main) 2016 Admit Card from jeemain.nic.in as per official schedule announced by CBSE.

JEE Main 2016 Exam Pattern

JEE (Main) – 2016 shall have two papers. Candidates may take Paper-1, or Paper-2, or both as per the course(s) they are seeking admission to. JEE Main Paper 1 is for BE / B.Tech, Paper 2 is for B.Arch . B.Planning. Both the papers are of 3 hours duration each. Engineering aspirants must attempt Paper 1 and Architecture aspirants can go for Paper 2.

Paper 1 has objective type with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Paper 2 has objective type questions for Mathematics (Part I) and Aptitude Test (Part II). Questions to test drawing aptitude are asked for Drawing Test (Part III)

Please note that Paper 1 will be held in offline and online modes, both. Whereas Paper 2 will be held only offline.

Please note that this time the information brochure does not have exact exam pattern. The only information given is that there will be three parts in the question paper consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics having equal weightage. Each question is allotted 4 (four) marks for the correct response. ¼ (one fourth) marks i.e. one mark will be deducted for indicating incorrect response of each question. Division of marks and number of questions in the table above is of last year’s exam.

JEE Main 2016 Eligibility Criteria

Only those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2016 should apply. These criteria outline limitations in age, year of appearing in qualifying examination, number of attempts and some other parameters. CBSE has announced the JEE Main 2016 eligibility criteria.

  • Age limit – The date of birth of candidate must be on or after October 1, 1991. For SC, ST, PwD candidates the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years. DOB as given in the Secondary Education Board / University certificate is considered.
  • Year of appearing in qualifying examination – Candidate must have appeared in QE in at least five subjects in 2014 or 2015 or will be appearing in 2016.
  • Number of attempts – Number of attempts in JEE Main is 3.

Question Paper of JEE Main 2016

Once the examination is conducted, you will be able to get the JEE Main 2016 question paper online. Apart from being able to download solved question papers provided by various coaching institutes, CBSE will also be issuing the question papers and keys at jeemain.nic.in and cbse.nic.in as per schedule. Candidates can view / download the question papers and answer keys, and also challenge the answer keys and OMR sheets within the given time frame.

  • The difficulty level of questions will remain same over all the sessions of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2016. You need not worry about getting a tougher question paper than other days.
  • For offline (pen and paper) test, JEE question paper will be available in different sets. For a same day – same session test, the different sets will have same questions in jumbled order. However the question over different dates and sessions will be different.
  • If you are appearing for online (computer based test) JEE Main 2016, you can get the question paper in your email. This is what has been generally done over the past two years and is expected to be done this year as well.

JEE Main 2016 Answer Key

Answer key of JEE Main 2016 will be the document containing all the correct answers. There will be questions on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics in the JEE Main Paper I, which will be correctly answered in the answer keys released by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Candidates will get a chance to challenge the JEE Main 2016 answer key and also note the answers marked by them in e-OMR released.

After the exam, candidates who have appeared for the offline test will have the hard copy of JEE Main 2016 question paper. Those who appear for the online (computer-based test) will get the online version in their emails / get it after logging in.

JEE Main 2016 Result

Score and result of JEE Main 2016 is expected to be released in two steps.

  • First, the score of all candidates who appeared in Paper 1 will be announced. This announcement of JEE Main 2016 result is anticipated to be done towards the end of April, and will also indicate the status of candidates who have qualified for JEE Advanced as well.
  • Declaration of JEE Main 2016 All India Rank (AIR) marks the final announcement of JEE Main result. The results will be compiled on the basis of JEE Main marks and class 12 marks (as expected insofar).

AIR will be used for centralized counselling for BE / B.Tech admissions. Also, the JEE Main 2016 Result of Paper 2 and corresponding AIR will be used for admission the B.Arch / B.Plan admissions.

JEE Main 2016 Cut Off

Once the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains)-2016 is conducted, ans papers are evaluated, result of JEE Main 2016 will be announced. Based on the merit obtained in JEE Main, counselling will be held on All India Level as well as state and / or college levels.

Cut off of JEE Main 2016 will be announced for each round, indicating Opening and Closing Ranks for college and branch.

About JEE Advanced 2016

Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2016 will be conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Admission in IITs, ISM Dhanbad and a few other engineering colleges will be on the basis of JEE Advanced 2016 results and rank. In order to be eligible for this exam, candidate must satisfy the eligibility criteria which includes having qualified in JEE Main with a certain minimum cut off marks.

  • Before the JEE Main and JEE Advanced system was introduced, CBSE conducted AIEEE and IITs conducted the IIT JEE If you are looking for information on IIT JEE 2016, please note the following points.
  • You must apply for JEE Main, appear and qualify in the exam. This exam is separate from the IIT JEE / JEE Advanced, and acts as a first qualifying stage for the Advanced exam.
  • Apart from that, you must also be in category wise top 20 percentile in class 12th exam or scored at least 75% aggregate marks (if General candidate) or 70% (if SC / ST / PwD candidate).
  • As per schedule announced by the organizing IIT, you will have to register for the JEE Advanced, download admit card of JEE Advanced 2016, and appear for Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • Number of attempts for JEE Advanced 2016 is limited to two (2) consecutive attempts.

All you need to know about JEE Main 2016

More than 12 lakh students take the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) exam every year. For JEE Main 2016, CBSE has releaseed official notification in November. About a month’s time is given for candidates to fill in and submit the JEE Main application form 2016. The exam conducting body shall accept the forms and fees, and ensuring the process has been successfully concluded, release the admit card. Candidates will know their examination centers in the admit card and appear for the exam on the announced dates. Shortly after conducting the exam, JEE Main answer key 2016 will be released for the candidates to check their answers and raise queries on the same if they find the need to do so. Having solved the queries on question paper and answer keys, CBSE will announce the JEE Main result 2016 scores. Those who would qualify for JEE Advanced 2016 will get to know through these scores about the same. Then the All India Ranks will be published, followed by holding the joint admission and counselling.

JoSAA – Joint Seat Allocation Authority

Merging the JEE Main counselling (previously known as CSAB) and JEE Advanced counselling, the JoSAA was introduced last year. Seats were allotted jointly to 18 IITs and ISM, 31 NITs, 18 IIITs and 18 other GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes). Whether this year JEE Main 2016 counselling and JEE Advanced 2016 counselling will be held separately, or jointly, will be known after the results of Mains and Advanced are announced.

Main features of JoSAA were as follows.

  • Candidates who had appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) could register for counselling after knowing their All India Ranks. Same was applicable for those who have appeared for the Advanced (IIT JEE) exam.
  • A time frame was given to fill choices – colleges and branches, in order of preference. Candidates are advised to be wise while filling in choices.
  • During the choice filling window, a mock seat allocation was displayed. This gave a rough idea to candidate on chances of selection in college and branch of choice.
  • After a few days, the first seat allotment result for JEE Main and Advanced was announced. This was followed by acceptance of seats.
  • There were three (3) rounds of seat allotment. A fourth separate round was held for NITs and GFTIs.
